CHART 1 • Voters disapprove of Trump on economic issues
Trump isn’t winning on a single issue in this poll from the Financial Times. Teal is approve, red is disapprove. Look across the chart and the red bar is longer every single time. There isn’t one issue where more voters approve of Trump’s handling than disapprove.
The cost of living is the killer. Just 21 in every 100 voters approve of how Trump is handling prices, while 64 disapprove. In other words, barely one in five think he is doing a good job on an issue that affects people every time they go to the supermarket, fill up the car or pay their bills.
The only area he is breaking even is immigration and border security, traditionally one of Trump’s strongest issues. Here, 42 approve and 45 disapprove. That’s basically neck and neck.

There’s also an interesting wrinkle with AI. The blue and red bars don’t add up to 100 because people who answered “unsure” aren’t shown in this chart. That group is tiny for all the other categories, but on AI it is huge: 38 in every 100 voters are unsure. Basically people haven’t decided on whether Trump is doing well or not on that issue.
