UK graduates are encountering unprecedented competition in the job market, with artificial intelligence playing a significant role in reshaping recruitment. In 2024, employers received an average of 140 applications per graduate job vacancy, a 59 percent increase from the previous year.
This surge in applications is partly due to AI making it easier for candidates to apply to multiple positions quickly. However, this has led to a "vicious circle" of increased applications, lower quality submissions and more rejections.
