Tech's three titans now worth more than double Germany's economy
Five charts to start your day
Good morning – here are your five chart for the day.
CHART 1 • US big three tech combined market cap
Nvidia has notched a market capitalisation of $4 trillion, making it the first public company in the world to reach the milestone, while Microsoft and Apple round out tech's triumphant trio. The combined value of these three companies has soared past $11 trillion. That's more than double Germany's entire $4.5 trillion economy, the world's third-largest.
Microsoft invests $80 billion in AI data centers while Nvidia's chips power virtually every AI application on the planet. The trio has achieved 14% compound annual growth since 2000, reshaping global capital markets. These three stocks now represent over 20% of the S&P 500's total value. For passive investors, buying an index fund means placing a massive bet on just three companies' continued dominance.
