More Americans are juggling two jobs

A growing number of Americans are holding down multiple jobs – 5.4 percent of adults last month, the highest rate in over 15 years. That is one sign of how everyday people are trying to keep up with rising costs and uncertain pay trends.

In the stock market, though, fresh talk of tariffs on Canada is capturing attention, with the S&P 500 down 0.8 percent. That dip has cut across the board, yet ironically, General Motors – heavily exposed to any new rules on cross-border automotive trade – bucked the trend by climbing slightly. Analysts see bigger factors than trade at play, namely the rotation out of ‘safe’ stocks that had resisted the sell-off so far.
