Once the crown jewel of American semiconductor manufacturing, Intel now finds itself adrift. Its competitors are riding the wave of AI leaving poor Intel behind as their valuations soar and Intel’s falls – Intel has lost over 56 percent of its share price value since 2021.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that rival chipmaker Qualcomm has approached the company about a potential acquisition. Simultaneously, private equity firm Apollo is said to be contemplating a $5 billion investment as Intel desperately seeks to correct its course.

Faced with this existential crisis, Intel has embarked on a series of drastic measures. Last month, the company announced plans to slash 15,000 jobs, significantly reduce capital expenditures and eliminate its long-standing annual dividend. Intel is now in a fight to remain relevant in an industry it once dominated. The question is, will it win?
