Five charts to start your day
Mumbai is a great place to lose your wallet apparently
My friend lost his briefcase on a train. It was an expensive, handmade, leather-bound briefcase containing his wallet and house keys. He had left it lying on the train seat. Three days later, FedEx delivered his briefcase to his office address. It was neatly wrapped in cloth and mailed in bubble wrap. The money was still in the wallet, along with his business card. There was no indication of who the sender was. It was a pure act of kindness.
That's what this first infographic is about. Reader's Digest conducted an experiment – they lost 192 wallets in 16 cities and measured the results. Interestingly, Zürich scored pretty badly. London, New York, and even Moscow, did far better. The most honourable cities were Helsinki (unsurprisingly) and Mumbai (a big surprise for me). This just shows that you shouldn't let your biased perceptions of cities get the better of you.
