The latest ranking of America's best universities might surprise you
University feels like a lifetime ago. One thing hasn't changed since I left, and it is the obsession we have with ranking tables.
The latest ranking of America's best universities is in, just in time for the upcoming admissions season. US News and World Report used 19 metrics to assess over 400 national universities, including graduation rates, peer assessment, financial resources, debt, and Pell Grant graduation rates. Here are the results, beautifully displayed in the data visualisation produced by Visual Capitalist.
Princeton University claims the top spot, known for its excellence in physics, economics, and international relations. MIT takes second place, with Harvard and Stanford tied for third, and Yale rounding out the top five. Private universities dominate the upper echelons of the rankings, while affordability tends to correlate with lower ranks.
