Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here and I have a great collection of charts for you to start your day. Some of these I’ve created myself and others have been doing the rounds on social media. Enjoy!

Coming up:

  2. How the GDP of China and India has changed since the 1960s

  3. China has stopped reporting youth unemployment

  4. The effective federal funds rate since 1954

  1. Who holds US government debt?

As always the first chart is free, but if you want to view the others you will have to become a paid subscriber.

  1. Warren Buffett’s recent love affair with Apple

  • Apple dominates Berkshire Hathaway's equity portfolio at 51%, showcasing Warren Buffett's evolving investment strategy from traditional favourites like Coca-Cola to high-growth brands.

  • Since 2016, Buffett has turned a $36.3 billion investment in Apple into a staggering $169.3 billion within seven years, not including dividends, underlining his acumen for identifying and capitalising on lucrative investment opportunities.

  • In 2022 alone, dividends from Apple accounted for over half of Buffett's total dividend income, amounting to nearly $879 million, and solidifying its position as a cornerstone in Berkshire Hathaway's investment portfolio.
