As a father of two, this particular chart deeply affected me. My worry isn't rooted in living in the US or planning to send my children to a US university. Rather, it's the alarming trend of skyrocketing educational costs that seems to be spreading globally.

This trend is already evident in the UK, where student loan debt has surged. UK universities, even public ones, are now charging full fees. This has led to a new generation of graduates burdened with significant debt before they even begin their careers.

The ripple effects on their financial wellbeing are substantial. In such a climate, it's hard to imagine these young graduates contemplating home ownership or retirement. They're faced with a seemingly insurmountable financial challenge from the outset, which is not only disheartening but also potentially destabilising economically.

We often discuss the wealth distribution gap between the rich and poor. Nowadays, however, the divide increasingly lies between the asset-rich older generation and the younger working population.
