London's stock market to take European mantle from Paris
This is silly. London and Paris are not rivals. They are business partners, and they have been for a very long time. The Eurotunnel was a godsend. When I was at HSBC, we could catch the train to meet our colleagues in Paris for a meeting and be back home in time for dinner.
So take this first chart with a massive pinch of salt. This chart is for the politicians and the uneducated to gloat or complain about. The structure of London’s stock market is very different to the one Paris has.
While Paris benefitted from a luxury boom post pandemic, London’s stock market has been struggling for international relevance in a disastrous post-Brexit world. Now the post pandemic boom is waning and London is adapting the the unnecessary frictions of Brexit, there is a bit of a return to normal.
