Generative AI exploded into our lives in 2023. This is undoubtably the most disruptive technology to arrive since the smart phone or Internet. It's huge, and it has had a profound effect on our lives.

Overnight, many of us found that we could generate incredible images, text and even videos using this technology. For instance, the artwork I use for my daily newsletters is generated by AI. I use Dali, Midjourney or Microsoft Designer.

Unfortunately, it's harder for AI to write text in an elegant and human manner. But I'm sure we will get there soon which unsurprisingly has also sparked many controversies. The most obvious of course is the potential for huge rounds of layoffs caused by AI.

That's what today's date of visualisation is about. It is from McKenzie’s “2023: The year in charts”, which is 100% worth having a look at. It seems that professions that centre on communications and documentation are the most under threat.
