Five charts to start your day
The cost of living crisis continues in Britain even though headline inflation is falling
The cost of living crisis continues in Britain even though headline inflation is falling. The average Christmas dinner is going to be 10.8% dearer for a British family of four this year. This hurts to see. Christmas shouldn't be about money. But if you are the main breadwinner in the family, Christmas can be really stressful if you are struggling financially.
I created this because I saw a chart that suggested Christmas was getting cheaper this year as headline inflation falls. It hasn't. I ran the data. Inflation is still hurting. I will let you make up your own mind on this topic. I’m going to take a short break over the holidays, but I’ll be back in the New Year.
