Debt growth beats every asset class
Five charts to start your day
Good morning – here are your five chart for the day.
CHART 1 • Bitcoin vs Gold vs Money vs Debt Market Values
Look at that pink tower and try not to panic. Global debt has exploded to $324 trillion – that's 13 times bigger than gold, three times larger than the entire money supply, and 140 times Bitcoin's market cap. We're witnessing the greatest debt bubble in human history, and nobody wants to talk about it.
Here's what should terrify you: debt is growing faster than GDP in every major economy. The $324 trillion represents over 330% of global GDP, up from 200% just two decades ago. Central banks printed their way through COVID, governments borrowed like drunken sailors, and now the bill is coming due. Except it's a bill that can never, ever be paid.
The comparison makes it stark – while Bitcoin believers celebrate hitting $2.3 trillion and gold bugs clutch their $25 trillion market, the debt monster towers over everything at 10x their combined value. When this unwinds, what will happen?
