BRICS reshape world economy
Five charts to start your day
Good morning – here are your five chart for the day.
CHART 1 • BRICS vs G7 Share of Global GDP
Watch that blue area explode while the gray line dies. That is a tectonic shift in world power. BRICS now commands 44% of global GDP (PPP) versus the G7's shrinking 28%, and the gap is accelerating. The forecast shows BRICS hitting nearly 50% by 2029 while the G7 slides toward irrelevance.
Here's what's stunning: China alone accounts for 70% of BRICS' economic muscle, making this less a multilateral alliance and more Beijing's global influence operation with supporting players. Add Indonesia as the newest member and Vietnam joining as a partner, and you've got 56% of the world's population now aligned under the BRICS umbrella. The EU's share has cratered from 22% to 16% in just two decades.
