The world welcomes over 15,000 babies every hour, however, half those births occur in just nine countries. Take a look at this fantastic data visualisation from Visual Capitalist.

Let's look at the numbers. India leads with 2,651 babies born every hour – that's 18 percent of global births. China follows with 1,016 births per hour, about 7 percent of the total.

Nigeria comes in third with 857 births hourly, followed by Pakistan with 786. Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia each contribute about 500 babies per hour.

The United States and Bangladesh round out our top nine, with roughly 400 births each hour. The rest of the world combined accounts for 7,476 births – that's 49 percent of the total.
